Greeting Magentites!

E-mail Print PDF

Summer of 2010 for Magento is hotter then ever. Magento is growing at unprecedented speed. And thanks to you there are now over 270,000 registered community members. You read that correctly! Over quarter of a Million.

In order to facilitate the growing community, I’m happy to announce that Rhonda and I have joined Magento in community leadership roles. I’m an avid user of Magento for my own ecommerce site and some of you may have crossed paths with me in the forums. I go by monocat. (long story ) Joining me to this new quest is Rhonda Rondeau, our new community manager whose primary responsibilities will be interacting with you in the forums and responding developers’ needs within the Magento Community. Rhonda joins us from MySpace where she managed the MySpace Developer Community. She is an enthusiastic individual and eager to assist you all.

We are enthused to be part of enhancing the community and adding our voices. We will be actively monitoring the forums and participate in discussions. Of course a community can’t be ran by itself. We welcome more ambassadors (moderators) to take initiatives by assisting fellow Magentites. Looking forward building great relationships with you all.

We are reviewing current community policies as well as considering new processes to better facilitate the community interaction and contribution. Look forward to new updates as they become available.

Rhonda and I are here to assist you fully. I can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . SoCal Magento Users Meetup a Success!

E-mail Print PDF

SoCal Magento users coordinated yet another successful Meetup event on August 17th and were joined by nearly 30 guests at the Los Angeles meeting space, Blank Spaces. The versatile meeting and conference rental space located in the heart of the West side, allowed for networking, discussions and post-discussion snacking at LA’s famous Korean BBQ truck, Kogi BBQ.

Attendees ranged from native Angelenos, commuters from Santa Barbara and visitors from New York- all to hear about news and updates on Magento products. Speakers covered topics like: extension structure, security patches and Magento support. Sevan Baghdasarian, Clafin Equipment employee and Magento Enterprise Edition user presented to the group about his involvement with Magento and how he became such an evangelist.

The event had a great turn- out and offered much opportunity for great connections! Be sure to join the Socal Magento users Meetup group for notices on future events in the Southern California area.

If you’re not in SoCal, check out some of the events we’re having in Boston and Culver City.

And if you want to be a Meet-Up Leader in your U.S. city or university, apply today at : http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-meetups/
